As part of the refurbishment project undertaken by Stiff + Trevillion Architects, the designers were commissioned to design and make furniture for the newly configured entrance lounge. Once dubbed as ‘Pimlico Castle’, the building has a hefty construction with an octagonal plan. The designers took this as a starting point to design a family of furniture with faceted features and played with the weightiness of solid surfaces and the lightness tapered thin edges create. The rich materiality and calm colours were designed to soften and lighten the space at the same time.
The designer worked to select a right combination of sustainable and local materials to emphasise the warmth and the tactility, be it oak wood, fabrics on upholstery or marble on tables.
